Robert Wood is one of our real success stories. Robert had been unemployed and in receipt of disability benefit due to a serious injury he had sustained. Though Robert had always had a keen appetite to work, many jobs were simply out of his reach due to his injuries. Robert contacted us early in 2008 and we discussed enrolling him onto the 5 day course. Robert then approached his local JobCentre Plus, who directed him to numerous business courses, seminars, workshops and finally grant funding.

Robert completed the 5 day course in August and in September Robert opened his own facility, The Piercing Room Body Piercing Studio in Darwen near Blackburn.

Full Name: Robert Wood. - Job Title: Body Piercer. - Location: Blackburn Lancashire. - Age: 35. - What did you do before body piercing: Due to an injury I have been unemployed and claiming Disability benefit for a number of years. - When did you decide you wanted to be a piercer: Approximately 9 months ago.

Why did you want to become a piercer: I wanted to own my own business I had decided on opening a tattoo studio, but found it quite difficult to get started. I thought that this course would provide me with a method of getting through the door. - How did you hear about Pierce Artist: I first found out about Pierce Artist by surfing the net. - What is the piercing scene like in your home town: I would say it is moving forward with more types of piercings being seen on the street each day. - Who are your most common customers: Girls aged 16 - 25.

Why did you choose Pierce Artist as your training provider: After reading the site and talking to the Pierce Artist Team, I viewed that Pierce Artist looked and sounded the best training provider. - How did you find the 5 day course: The one on one training style was fantastic, we did loads of piercings, it was intense and very enjoyable. - What was the most important thing you needed to leave with to call the training a success: I wanted to leave the course with the knowledge that I had learnt the correct methods and procedures for every piercing that I would do in the future.

Were your goals met by the course: Yes. - How did you find the teaching techniques of Tracy Perkins: I found Tracy very knowledgeable and she is very good at getting the information through to you. The knowledge that I gained has been excellent and valuable in providing my clients with a safe and professional method of being pierced.

What was it like piercing for the first time. Amazing - What piercing did you most enjoy and which piercing did you find the most difficult: I really enjoyed working with someone who has so much passion about what she does. I did not find any actual piercing difficult as Tracy really teaches you very well. I found the Tragus and eyebrow piercings a bit tricky due to the jewellery balls being so tiny and fiddly, but i am getting better at them. It's just practice - How was it using the Pierce Artist toolset: Excellent especially the nose piercing tool which has amazed many clients. I have even had clients who had their nose pierced by a gun previously and taken the jewellery out and had it re pierced by me using the tool. - You have opened your own facility how are things going: Business is picking up. When clients are shown the methods that we use, they are just amazed at how safe and better the Blade Needle method is, compared to canular piercing, also clients are more at ease when they have had their ears pierced using the single use disposable cartridge. - What feedback are you getting from the customers you have pierced: They are amazed by the faster healing times you get from Blade Needles Piercings. Free aftercare is included in my pricing structure. The customers really like this and they tell me it shows that we are not just interested in taking their money and that it sends out a message that we care. I have had clients come back and recommended us to their friends and family, because of this. - How do you see your future as a body piercer: I am confident to say that the future looks good. My first goal is to establish myself in the region as a professional body piercer and tattooist and then look to provide some additional services to grow my business.

I would like to thank Tim and Tracy and the team at Pierce Artist for all their help and support which has been priceless.

Many thanks Robert Wood
